Kigoo Update

by mossad30 on 22 August, 2008

Following up on the post by Geekboy on the Google and Outlook sync software Kigoo, I installed it on my office laptop. It wirks but it takes a very long time to load up and it seems like my Calendar has hanged.. (actually it just takes a damn long time to load). I have unistalled all other plug-ins on my Outlook, but it still takes a long time. I am thinking that it may be a function of how many contacts or appointments that you have that determines loading times….  If anyone has any solution, please let me know.

Should I swop my Treo 650 for a Samsung i780?

by mossad30 on 20 August, 2008

I have been using my Treo 650 coming to a year and I have realised that my mobile phone turnover time is getting lesser and lesser. I used to be able to resist the temptation of changing my mobile phone for at least 1.5 – 2 years. However, with the rapid advances in mobile technology, I do feel that my Treo 650 is a bit dated. Here’s some of the specs of my Treo 650: what it does have and does not have

GPRS (not HSDPA)

VGA camera (most are at least 2 MP and above)

no Wifi (even simple mobile phones have built in Wifi)

Crux of the matter, I am a techno slut and would like to have a new device….  So I am currently looking at the Samsung i780, which is of the dark side… Windows Mobile 6. I wonder if it will require rebooting everyday. Granted that I have never used a WM device but the horror stories I have heard about them are truly scary. Then again, our dear Palm has not gone much further in getting new products out besides the Centro, which in my opinion has no great appeal and Palm seems to still wallowing in the glory of the Treo series which is many years behind other smartphones.

Besides being a WM device, the Samsung i780 seems to have eveything a smartphone should have and pricing with a telco discount is actually quite appealing at around S$298.

My other option would be to get the Nokia N810 Tablet device, which has a bigger screen and more suited as a multimedia device, but I already have the Ipod Touch which serves very much as such.

My conclusion? I am a techno slut!

Replace battery in Nike+ receiver for under $5
Sometime in the near future, I was hoping to get the Nike+ Receiver as part of my running gear. And I came across this article about replacing the battery for cheap. (Just the cost of the battery, heard it’s like SGD$30-40 if you go to the shop.)
But seriously, [...]
