Recently, probably after the Firefox update to version 3. My Outlook 2007 has been giving me this error, when I click on hyperlinks, or web addresses inside of the messages.
General failure. The URL was: “http://www.website.com…” The system cannot find the file specified.
Did a little searching on google and here’s the solution.
Basically, if you have more than 1 broswer installed (e.g. Firefox, Safari, Opera) then you need to specify which one you want your system to use.
- Click on Start menu
- Click on “Set Program Access and Defaults”
- Click on the “Custom” button
- Under “Choose a default Web Browser,” check the “Enable access to this program” checkbox that corresponds to browswer you want to use. In my case – Mozilla Firefox.
- Click “OK”
This solved my problem. Now in Outlook 2007, links open properly when I click on them.
