It’s been a long time since I’m excited about any mobile device or phone.
Once you have used enough phones, all the new features, the mega pixels and designs don’t mean much, if the user interface doesn’t match up to the experience.
I used to have a Palm III PDA… yeah.. back in those black and white days.. followed by the Sony Clie but never quite followed into the Treo models. I really liked Palm’s inituitive UI and the apps.. wow.. really.. thousands of them!
AND the old palm applications will run on the new device!! [COOL!]
The iPhone is cool.. I love how photos/videos, of course music, gets showcased on that lovely big screen. Been quite tempted to get one too, but the lack of buttons/keys has put me off for a long time. SMS is a pain!
I want the multi-touch screen with a hidden keypad/board.. smart rotation and a User Interface that is really.. inituitive!
So comes, Palm Pre!
Good, speedy, User Interfaces are important when you have so many different programs running. Here’s a good look at the various features of the phone thru the desktop emulator on a Palm Pre YouTube channel.
News has it that the phone will be launched in the US on the 6th June 2009 (non-GSM version though, the GSM-3G version to be launched later) for US$199 (after rebate) with the US Sprint telco.
I just hope it has a good Blackberry connect software, so I can move across from my Blackberry Bold.
Check out Mossad’s take on the Palm Pre back in January.
