Google Inc’s free mobile operating software will be running Netbooks, with the first probably by Acer in the third quarter of 2009. Asustek Computer Inc, which pioneered the sub notebooks called Netbooks, is also reportedly developing a model that runs on Android.
Android was developed by Google based on the Linux open-source operating system, which allows modification of the source code to add functionality. Its use in a Netbook shows just how versatile and powerful the mobile operating system is.
