Today, is World Environment Day 2009.
In our world when the Earth is heating up (you can feel it now even if you don’t want to believe it), natural resources have passed their peak supplies. But I really think thanks to oil prices’ recent soaring past US$150 per barrel, had made many people in the world waking up to new energy resources and how to be more conservative and help save the earth by saving on resources/recycling.
So it’s no surprise many technology companies have stepped up their efforts to be more Green. Toyota pushed up their Hybrids (cars that run on both battery more than petrol), Solar energy and more efficient systems are sought after to maximize the returns and reduce energy usage.
Panasonic has had a department working on these concepts for years and to bring up more awareness for their efforts. They decided to put up a travelling showcase starting from Singapore’s Suntec City – Tropics Atrium.

Starting from today till Sunday the 8th June, the public can freely check out the various exhibits and take part in the Eco Quizzes.
I was privileged to attend their media and partners opening this morning from 10:00am.
After a series of opening speeches and powerpoint slides to outline how Panasonic will be carrying out their Eco Ideas from concepts to deployment in mainstream electronics, we had the VIPs go upon the stage to write their own ‘green message’ which will be sent through out the world as viewed on their 103inch Plasma screen.
The rest of the exhibits were interesting as how there will affect us and come to our daily lives very soon..
